Summer Camp Writers
A week of high-energy explorations fueled creative expression at Seashore Family Literacy's 2012 Summer Writing Adventure Camp.
To inspire writing, students hiked Cape Perpetua, toured the Alsea Bay Interpretive Center and walked the historic Alsea Bay Bridge, traveled by city bus to explore Newport’s working bayfront, and kayaked Alsea Bay and Lint Slough.
Now in its sixth year, the free camp was led by writer Drew Myron, with assistance from Fred and Carol Strauss, and Grayson Schlosser.
Special thanks to Ranger Cameron at the Alsea Bay Interpretive Center, Ranger John at Cape Perpetua, Waldport High School's Kayak Shack, and KOHO - Yachats.

Thanks also to Summer Camp parents: Becky York (also known as Carlos' mom) for the oatmeal cookies after a vigorous kayaking adventure; Chris Burns (also known as Grace's dad) for providing binoculars and good cheer on our Cape hike; Sharon McCrum (also known as Laura's mom) for recruitment efforts; and the many parents, grandparents and families of all kinds fostering good words, deeds and creative minds.
